Scripts

Full scripts for my first three produced movies:

Severance

Notes: Thank you to Michael Kuhn of Qwerty Films for permission to post this script here. This is the revised draft from November 2004. I'd done a couple of drafts for the film company, and this was one of the drafts I did based on director Chris Smith's notes, folding in more notes from the film company. It was the last draft I did by myself before I and Chris started rewriting together, so while most of it is very close to the finished movie, you'll notice some differences. There are things we hadn't trimmed yet, things that would change, things that would be added, all that fun stuff that happens as the shooting date approaches. Obviously, as it's a draft from the middle of the process, it's not normally one that would be made public, so bear with it for any slightly rough and ready sequences we were still working out. But I think it's a good representation of what we were all going for, and probably more useful/informative to read than the final shooting draft which was almost identical to the finished movie.

Cockneys Vs Zombies

Notes: A huge thank you to Dan MacRae and all at StudioCanal for permission. This is the March 2011 shooting script, from right before filming, and very little changed from script to screen, as you'll see. The actors did a lot of improvising, so there are several lines of dialogue they came up with that aren't in here, including my absolute favourite line in the whole thing, when Richard Briers improvs "that was really sad" after shooting his favourite nurse to pieces with an Uzi strapped to his walker, the understatement of the year. RIP Richard Briers, the king of comedy. And also RIP, sadly, to Honor Blackman, Dudley Sutton, and Tony Selby. Our amazing cast are dwindling one by one, it's such a shame. But I'm so glad they all got to do this, they thoroughly enjoyed running around with guns and swearing, they had a blast.

Tower Block

Notes: Thank you to James Harris and Mark Lane, the producers, for permission. This is the locked shooting script from July 2011, just before we started filming, and is pretty close to the finished movie. Several scenes were omitted, as we got closer to production, mainly some intro stuff that wasn't needed once they had settled on the opening credit sequence (which then changed again after shooting to the CGI building flythrough that's there now). Obviously, if you haven't seen the movie, please watch it before reading the script, as it'll give away all the surprises...
